Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik (OENM)

The Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik was founded in 1975 by composers Klaus Ager and Ferenc Tornai. Since 1997, the ensemble has established an outstanding international reputation for its performances of contemporary music under the direction of violinist Frank Stadler and cellist Peter Sigl. Johannes Kalitzke is the principal guest conductor, and the Stadler Quartet forms the core of OENM's musicians.
Since 2000, the ensemble has regularly appeared at the Salzburg Festival, and performed the début concert of Chaya Czernowin's Zaide/Adama in 2006 within the framework of Mozart 22. The OENM and the Stadler Quartet have assumed 'western' roles at the Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum's Dialogen festival and the stART festival of contemporary music in Salzburg. They continue to successfully collaborate with composers Helmut Lachenmann and Peter Ruzicka.
Guest appearances have taken the ensemble to the great music centres of Europe, Middle and South America, the USA and Asia.
